PARIS, 31 May 2025 — Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have written their name in football history by winning the treble for the first time in the team’s remarkable history, securing dominance both domestically and in Europe.
After years of investment, disappointment and obstacles, the Parisian giants finally achieved the season of their dreams, winning the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and, most importantly, the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
A season to remember
The foundations for PSG’s historic treble were laid with an impressive campaign in Ligue 1. Under Luis Enrique, PSG showed tactical discipline and excellent attacking ability, finishing the season ahead of rivals Monaco and Marseille. Ousmane Dembele, in what could be his first season with the club, Led from the front, scored 21 goals and created countless great moments.
In the Coupe de France, PSG won a tough match with a combination of mental toughness and physical strength. A hard-fought 4-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in Dunkerque led to a superb final where they beat Reims 3-0 to claim their second trophy of the season.
Finally a European triumph
But it was in Europe where PSG truly conquered new frontiers. After a long spell of Champions League disappointment, the club finally shook off its reputation for underperforming. PSG’s journey to glory included a quarter-final win over Aston Villa and a dramatic semi-final victory over Arsenal in the final in Munich. PSG face Inter Milan
In a tense encounter at the Allianz Arena, goals from Achraf Hakimi, Désirée Doué, Kvaratskhelia and Senni Mayulu gave PSG a 5-0 win, securing their first Champions League title and completing a historic treble.
The feat was a turning point not only for PSG but also for French football. Winning the treble is a rare feat, previously only achieved by a handful of top clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United. For PSG, a club often criticised for failing to translate domestic dominance into European success, this season has dispelled any doubts.
Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi called it “the most important moment in PSG’s history” and praised the team’s “relentless pursuit of greatness”.
What next?
With Mbappe gone and Real Madrid in the mix, PSG face new challenges. And their first Champions League triumph. However, this treble-winning season has undoubtedly solidified PSG’s position among Europe’s top clubs.
For fans, the long wait is over. Paris has finally emerged as the champions not only of France but also of Europe.
